In the heart of the coastal range of Oregon, salmon is a part of our natural heritage and a theme of many celebrations. Each year, in the spring before school lets out for the summer, Hands-on Art hosts the Junior Salmon Auction to raise funds for art programs in our school.

High school students decorate salmon-shaped pressboard blanks, approximately 22″ long, using a variety of materials and their amazing imaginations. These masterpieces are auctioned to the highest bidder during an evening event that includes music and refreshments, a students’ art exhibit, and a live auctioneer and assistant who rival Pat and Vanna  of Wheel of Fortune fame.
